Foreword: Before I begin typing, allow me to state that the following items were supposed to be included in my big 2000th post thread, and my wiener will hurt for a week following. Russian Armed Forces This is the crux of my post, and by far the most important and time consuming thing on here. I'd like to discuss a few things that I had already ran over with Shephard and Barnet, including the pros and cons of converting Afghan into RU, the overall structure of the server, classes, comparative policing and laws, and relevant roleplay. I'd like to state that the main purpose of a conversion is to give a similar 'official' style appeal to both countries. US, as the basis for most modernized national armed forces, already has this concept in the bag. Afghan, obviously, does not, will not, and can only do so by not being Afghan. It is in part responsible for the poor reputation Afghan has, and the type of people it attracts from the first connection to the server. Benefits of replacing Afghan with Russia- As previously stated, it is a formal military with pre-established regulations and divisions similar to that of US, as well as dedicated special forces units to draw comparisons with. Easily translated to US style subfactions. Already has very Western ranks similar to that of the current server set up. Will not be restricted to 'terrorist' weaponry, which is primarily AK based rifles. Would have a much more characteristic tone than a bunch of children screaming 'Allahu Ackbar xD' Much more appealing models. Conversion will be really, really easy. (See: Diagram) Military Law will be easily translatable between US and RU. Will add a nice refreshing vibe to the server and draw in more players. Cons to having RU instead of Afghan- Garnet likes having Afghan for whatever reason. Lore doesn't matter, Fuck you. Core Faction Setup and US comparison Shitty MS Paint Diagram: Pretty simple and straight forward, wont add a DF equiv unless Garnet wants/asks for one. I'll work on models in the future, as that will be the most time consuming part of the implementation, and I don't want to waste my time without the go-ahead from Garnet. Once the amount of models I have to work with is ironed out, I'll adjust the classes below accordingly. The current ones are merely prospective. Milkdud is offering his prospective time to do minor texture changes to weapons to add another level of uniqueness to variants between classes, as well as modernize soviet-era firearms. NOTE: Shortly after I started this section gmod stopped working and I couldn't grab weapon names/strings.
