[DRP] Small Map Adjustments

    Before you immediately go and -1 or insta-deny this suggestion for tampering with the stable map Garnet is currently using, hear me out; the map isn't perfect. It's great, but it could be better. I'm not looking to suggest a series of major changes that will alter the gameplay flow, but rather some minor fixes that will encourage more creative building and realistic RP.

    These suggestions aren't in any particular order, just what I thought to record at the time. Rest assured each of these have been made with enjoyability and ease of use in mind, in that they aim to simplify the building process for new players, and also allow more experienced players with the opportunity to create more creative bases. I'll try to keep each of these short, because we all know how much fun reading is. Please let me know if there is any trouble viewing the images.

    So since the PD is one of, if not the most crucial bases in downtown, I'd like to suggest a simple change to the building:

    Remove this small room inside the main PD area. The only reason it exists is to provide a room to successfully hold the bank during a raid, and since that feature has now been removed, the room only inhibits the Mayor from building decent bases to fend off frequent PD raids.
    The gas station is a puny, pitiful building that has almost no appeal for building in, and is part of the reason why the suburbs is such a little used area.

    I recommend the building is extended outward towards the street by a good amount, such that a base is able to be built inside without completely taking up the entire room.
    The large base in the middle of the slums is a common spot for people to build, as it is somewhat detached from the main populated areas, making it a good place to farm printers or drugs. At the same time, many of the smaller rooms on the lower level are unused, due to the fact that they inhibit people from building anything inside.

    These two rooms should most certainly be combined into one, so that they can be built in to a reasonable degree.
    This base in old spawn could be adjusted to provide more building space.

    Perhaps remove the small room on the left, or move the front doorway more to the right, in order to create more space for basing.
    This large empty space in the corner of the downtown fountain area is an excellent space for hobo building, but this is an isolated location that does little more than allow people to shut themselves off from the main downtown action.

    I recommend that another building is placed in this space, because areas to build in in downtown are already sparse as it is.
    The furthest left building of the 3 typically referred to as the ghetto is more or less a copy of the one on the right.

    Why not extend the building into the street, and create a larger, more open building for gangs to congregate in?
    In a similar position to the building looked at above, there could be some work done on this as well.

    I recommend removing the middle building, is it is mostly just an empty, unused filler spot, and extend the rightmost building over, until it occupies the space of both.
    The unused yellow wall across from the PD is completely empty, which comes as a surprise, considering how valuable a building space in downtown is. The only thing the space is useful for is roof building if you own the hotel penthouse. [​IMG] Why not use the space to create some sort of apartment, with multiple floors?
    The two bases in the downtown fountain sphere are on two sides of a die; one is used frequently, while the other is completely ignored because of how small it is.

    I'd recommend that the left building's wall is moved in closer, and that the right one is extended to provide more space.
    So the brown base in industrial is highly appealing due to it's massive size. The only issue is, the transition between the two main rooms is inhibited by a small room.

    This room should be removed, as it only creates a staging space for raiders to camp without any threat of being attacked.
    So the double story garage base in the suburbs is nice, the only complaint I have with it is that the backyard is almost completely unused when basing, most people either propblock off the backdoor or just ignore it altogether.

    I recommend it is either removed entirely and to make a much larger base, or extend the base backwards a decent amount.
    This is disputably the worst building on the map, it's compressed, difficult to build in, and really doesn't have any upsides at all.

    First, the backyard is a completely unreasonable waste of space. Either extend the back rooms out much more, or remove the backyard altogether and put in an additional building. That's my suggestion.

    Also, I recommend removing this wall, to connect the two rooms on either side.

    Doubt Garnet will go for it due to what he's said before and his work on Nuristan.

    Just being hopeful. Obviously this isn't a priority for DarkRP, it's something I'd like to see once Garnet has had the time to take a break from working on MRP.

    +1 a few years ago when we had our old developer we working on a new map for garnet I left then so I never got to see the output but as you can see we dont have it.

    -1 for PD, that "hallway" usually has cops moving in and out of it, if the mayor just builds in his room all should be fine. Same thing with if the mayor builds in said hallway, changing it would just reduce the amount of build room, id say leave this the same, maybe make an additional room for donator police jobs?
    -1 to gas station. Gas station is actually a very underrated spot with it being away from main street and the more populated areas. As, I have the perfect base dupe for making it unraidable, i'd personally say leave it as it is - definitely a nice, quiet spot to farm though.
    -1 to the slum drug base - this is due to the fact that buildings like this are what parties need. Each member gets their own room to store their own crap. Sorry but in my honest opinion buildings with their own rooms are perfect for parties so leave this unchanged.
    +1 to old spawn double door base - I always felt like this building gets ignored - but it could really use that extra backroom. Im +1 this one because it gets overlooked a lot when there are 5 other factories with more space/utility. Maybe remove this one altogether?
    -1 to fountain parking lot - its only used by hobos, any bases that are built here are usually taken down by staff because it is considered building on the street.
    +1 to ghetto being extended - dunno why but gangs really like this building (until they find the other one in suburbs). An extension would definitely make this spot more appealing to base in.
    +1 to ghetto middle.right building - the right building is a copy of the left one so has the same amount of appeal. As for the middle maybe implement a sewer system and have this building be an entrance to it? Only the fresh Darkrp players who haven't massed yet build here to place their weed lights and fading doors with no keypads so +1 to improving it.
    +1 to opposite PD space, its literally a doorless building complete with windows. With it being in such a populated spot, being able to base there would make it a fun base to defend.
    +1 fountain into-wall buildings - Left one should be left alone as I see no problem with it. The right one is another undervalued, leave-me-alone base spot but I do feel it is too small and could definitely use an extension.
    -1 to Brown industrial warehouse - the small room in the middle is literally what prevents this warehouse from being a copy of other warehouses, plus the room can be used by a defender, as nobody would expect someone to be in there.
    -1 to suburbs garage base - again another frequent party base spot - removing the backyard would just make for less room in a building that feels cramped with more than 2 people in it.
    +1 to suburbs "realistic" base - the rooms feel extremely small and cramped and could definitely use an extension. As for the backyard, if you make the backdoor the entrance to your base and wall the entire outside then this can be a base with a decent amount of space for a party to store their crap (iv done this before - it works).

    I mean iv based on every single spot on the map - I know their positives and negatives, its the least I could do. Just trying to give back to the community I love so much. Wish I could learn how to map though, so I can help Garnet out more.

    The drp map needs these changes, I heard a lot of people complaining that there's not enough base (for ~100 players), by making those map modification, we are adding more usable space

    -1 This would rack up more VRAM than the map already takes up with having 80-125 players daily.

    +1 Maybe this shouldn't be removed, only downscaled. See my Gas Station response or my Parking lot response.

    There should be a small scale bank here, close to the size of the gas station so the PD bank can be removed.

    +1 though if you wanted to stuff a gang in here it would be nice to have individual rooms, and this building has a lot.

    The size of the building is fine, but the door should be moved.

    This would also be a good place to put a bank. Only one should be in the map so Garnet should choose of course.

    The middle building should be removed, the left building extended, but the alley should stay so illegal activities can take place.

    The right building should be kept as is and the left extended completely.

    -1 This is fine and should be left alone.

    -1 The mud room is pretty cool then you come into a large room for printers and such. This shouldn't be changed.

    -1 This should also be left alone, the backyard is nice for having printers free in the back away from police. Though the fence should be raised so you can be protected from Propclimbing cops (that try to get screenshots).

    Yes, I think the backyard should stay but the interior is in dire need of extension.

    The room is still home to the PC Shop NPC it's considered an armory right now so -1.
    -1, It's simply a gas station, we don't need that big of a space to sell a few soda cans and a desk for the cashier -1 (We don't wanna turn every building into a base)
    +1 I agree, If those two rooms are merged that would turn out pretty sweet.
    +1 I agree, that would definitely make it better.
    For some reason it won't load the picture but if you're talking about the wall behind the fountain between the two tunnels, I think we should add like 3 buildings there with a bunch of apartments.

    The dealer can be moved elsewhere, it's not permanent.
    I don't see why anyone would even want to set up shop in an area where nobody goes. The suburbs are only good for basing.

    Oh I didn't mean for dealers to make a shop there, I was talking about like in real life, But Yeah I guess we could extend it backwards but not outwards to the street

    There are so many version of RP Downtown it's not even funny there is one with a bank in it there are ones with extra roads and beaches it's mostly about finding one then making your own with RP downtown
