Just one of these sentimental posts I'd like to be able to reflect back on in a few years unless I die to covid-19. This time last year (and the years before) I was a terrible leader/community owner who wasn't very receptive to criticism, stuck in his ways, and not all that active. Around that time (and the years before) Garnet very very stagnant having had only 2 servers, being DarkRP and MilitaryRP, both of which were struggling to get past 60-80 players at certain times for nearly 6 years. It has gotten to a point where I spoke to players/friends who I considered close to me about shutting down the server due to its financial burden on myself as well as the fact that I was not able to dedicate enough of my time to it due to medical school. Many people retaliated telling me how much the community was meant to them, and I decided to take a year off of university (originally it was intended to be only a single semester, if you manage to find the forum post) to see what I could improve upon if I were to fully dedicate myself to the community. Literally my life since then has purely consisted of waking up, working out, grabbing a cup of coffee, and spending my day on my computer talking to players on Teamspeak/Discord, finely tweaking the servers, attempting to create content from scratch with lua for the first time, and mapping. (not to mention how bad it is now with Corona going on and having NOTHING else to do haha) Truthfully, this all paid off as this year we're looking at 12 servers most of which are at near full capacity, with a whopping playercount of over 1000 concurrent players, with over 10,000 different users joining in a day. Thanks to @421 sm0k meth and a few others such as Dan Gardner I was able to finally get Rust populated and set up properly after literally blowing a $5,000 hole in my pocket, due to the fact I knew nothing or Rust and lacked the time to dedicate to fit. Thanks to @shrimp who came back after being gone for nearly a year, MilitaryRP is once again being roleplayed on with the narrative our awesome event server set. Shrimp also dedicates hours of his free time towards it PURELY to bring a smile to you guys' face. Thanks to @Phantom and his dedication I was able to get StarwarsRP up and running after 3 fucking years, and only the future will show what's in store for that server, but it's looking promising. It was literally 3 months ago that I took pride in the fact that our community had double itself in size, but since then, we have become nearly tenfold of what we were just 12 months ago. Some achievements we've reached since literally the beginning of 2020 include: MilitaryRP finally accumulated enough maps to have a proper map rotation (Chaharikar, Taiga, Siberia, Delta, Echo) Rust Sierra 2x had 400 players online and over 300 in the queue (must've been a record of some sorts?) regardless, it made me very proud. DarkRP #2 launched seeing as our primary server was at full capacity of 128/128 for HOURS out of the day StarwarsRP re-launched after 3 years of being down with tons of money invested into its content I had just purchased our first ever EU servers to try and expand our community internationally Going through the forums it's insane to me the number of people who I come by that have stuck around for over 3 years, and I am extremely thankful for that. With the return of StarwarsRP I've been seeing an influx of "veteran players" who have not been online in YEARS making a return, and I thank you for giving Garnet Gaming a try again! hope you're not disappointed.

About 6.5 years ago we started off as a small TTT and DarkRP community that I created after having a foul experience staffing for a careless owner who used his outrageously big donation money towards drugs use, I wanted to create a more attentive community that is frequently updated based off of community criticism back when "suggestion forums" were not a thing in 99% of communities. I didn't have any expectations as far as succeeding, and I humbly was looking forward to running a small 48 slot DarkRP server, however, within a year of playing everyday and staffing for 12 hours a day, taking sits, and having fun with players, the server ended up maxing at 100/100 within 3 months. From there we had our ups and downs having issues with DDoS and being down for 5 days out of the week, until I picked up a part time job and we were able to afford better premium hosting. We ditched our TTT server in favor of opening up a MilitaryRP server, which is about to celebrate its 4th birthday. The community has been evolving with old members leaving, getting replaced by newer members throughout the years. Our peaks were really decent, at one point having 3 servers maxed out at 100+ players with StarwarsRP (which had unfortunately not made a return in 2 years) and things were going really well. I took a 8 month hiatus to deal with personal matters last year, however, I came back towards the end of 2019 refreshed and eager to get our community to grow to its next level along with the support of many. After spending thousands of dollars on a Rust server that never picked up in population, I received the help of many, especially @421 sm0k meth who has been here throughout the years, and we managed to enter the top 10 in the respective category were hosting in within 3 months. As of today (2/8/2020, I'm extremely happy to announce that we have hit a new milestone at 600 concurrent players. This is a milestone that we have achieved thanks to our awesome players and staff alike - we have effectively doubled our playerbase with the introduction of Rust 5x, 2x, TTT and Murder in just the last few months. For the remainder of 2020 I will continue trying my best to provide new content to all servers, attempt to bring up our quality of staffing with the help of our administration team, as well as be more responsive to any major reports and support threads posted to keep you guys in this community which is a home to hundreds of players. We will most definitely still experience some downfalls here and there, but I can say that my efforts to grow the community are at an all-time high, and as are the efforts of many of our current high positioned staff members. I have taken 2 semesters off of university to pursue this community, and to say the least, I have no regrets because of the results that were produced. Thank you so much for your overwhelming support.

Hello Goat Gamers, I'm making this post to inform those of you who are trying to communicate with me/communicate with me regularly that I am back in college for a semester. While I am sure I will be able to maintain a high level of activity to ensure new content is pushed to our respective servers, a big chunk of my time is once again being dedicated to ventures outside of Garnet. Unlike in the past, i'm fairly confident I'll be able to do so, however, please do be more mindful that my activity hours have changed, and I may not be on my desktop PC a whole lot to use my microphone/Teamspeak. Changes have been made to how suggestions are handled on my end, and thank you so much to @Phantom, @AwesomeAidan, @Chewy, and @proggy for making it possible by updating a "Revisions" documents for each respective server, saving me the trouble of going on the forums and sorting through suggestions. I couldn't think of a better section to post this message, so it is going under the Announcements forum. Thank you, and I hope you all have a great rest of your week!

After spending this ENTIRE day arguing back and fourth with a Facepunch staff member it seems, the final verdict is that our servers are back on the master list until Garry himself comes up with a final verdict Surprisingly, Rubat(robotboy) a Facepunch developer still refers to our DDoS protected servers as 'Ping Spoofing' which is very disrespectful, but we'll let it slide. Thank you all for supporting me today, it's been alot of help.

In-game name: Chewy Age: 37 Why am I qualified? I worked in K-12 (education) for 11 years, taught middle school for 4 of that. I've seen and survived the worst that puberty has to offer and how to manage those effected by it (teachers and students). I was in charge of staff training and education for several years, as well as creating policies and procedures whenever needed. I've handled hiring and scheduling for my departments in the past. Been a sysadmin for nearly 15 years, and in software development for 3. I'm very familiar with software and game mods in general, as well as how integrations and configurations can be done to help drive the community and staff forward. I've been playing multiplayer FPS games since Goldeneye on the N64, and on Steam since the days of DoD (Day of Defeat, for those not in the know). I've been a ranked tournament player in the days when those were still a thing, so I get the competitive aspect and how it effects behavior and how much a player enjoys their experience. Aside from the professional aspect, I've been playing Rust since just before the Alpha ended and have been playing it almost exclusively for the last couple of years. I've played on over a hundred different servers of all types (modded, community, vanilla, official) and gotten a pretty good feel for what qualities staff need to have in order to be successful and not hate their responsibilities. Rust is often an incredibly toxic community and if you start to enforce any sort of rules or behavioral expectations on players, you have to be ready to become a target for them. Staff/mods need someone who knows what they're dealing with, knows the struggle, and is always available to support them in many capacities. I haven't been in the Garnet community for long (I think I'm at around 2 months now?), but I have around 600-800 hours played on the 2x, 5x, and 1000x. I'm definitely the most hated mod on the 1000x, which I expected to happen as soon as rules started to be enforced. I've gotten a lot of support from players at the same time though, so I think we're finally making some progress on the 1000x as far as player interactions go. I want to expand that progress into all the other aspects of gameplay on the other Garnet servers, which will eventually build trust in staff and trust in the quality of gameplay we can offer. It all starts at the top, and I want to be the one helping pull the community and servers forward.

Here at Garnet Gaming we are thankful for your service in helping us maintain our large quantity of servers by properly moderating and protecting our respective servers from minges and cheaters alike. Our community has more than tripled in size since the start of 2020 and we are only a month in, going from a MilitaryRP and DarkRP that would collectively peak at an average of 160, to having a single Rust server that by itself reaches higher peaks than that, along with the introduction of the TTT and Murder gamemodes, and MANY more servers under the works as we speak! This resulted in a significantly higher demand for staffing members, and so, to show our gratuity towards our staff members, I wanted to re-iterate that we are offering our moderating players access to VIP packages that one would otherwise have to pay for on the respective administrated server. This includes both Garry's Mod and Rust. Depending on your server, these packages could vary, but you will most definitely stand our from the crowd. In addition to this, staff members to tend build a stronger relationship with players, which may prove to be rewarding, as friendships like myself and @evity's develop, and we have now been close friends for the better part of 7 years. So for those of you who are interested in contributing or simply would like to donate, but do not have the funding to because of different circumstances, just know that our servers are always hiring, and the application process is easy. In order to apply, you would simply head to a respective servers' subforum and further navigate to "Staff Applications", from there, you will meet a standardized format which you would have to fill out and submit to our playerbase for review. This process would not take longer than 30 minutes on average, and if you are deemed fit for the role, you will be immediately set to it. Thank you very much for your interest and/or reading!

Words directly from our host, "Much of the source code was already out there in one way or another. GMod is in an entirely separate engine revision from CSGO. It’s SIMILAR to TF2 but so is HL2." If my host who's a security freak is not shutting down our network claiming there is no risk and there's nothing to worry about, I'd appreciate if you stopped spreading mass hysteria revolving around Garry's Mod which evidently has no new security concerns. Thank you!

Hello Garnet Gamers, it's 4:30AM, me and our host Ertug are exhausted, we just finished off transferring all of Garnet's valuable items to a new location. Rust was taken off of our old machine, and put onto a more than twice as powerful machine in order to offer better performance. I kept our old machine in order to dedicate it towards the expansion of our Murder and TTT gamemodes which have been performing VERY well thanks to our great staff team. Our website was taken off from your typical $20 a month VPS and put onto its very own server machine as to offer dedicated performance. Anything related to MySQL should now performance incredibly quickly, whether that be DarkRP itself, MilitaryRP whitelisting, DarkRP inventory system, our forums, and our donation portal Hopefully you're able to see these changes as our active forums now load in well under a SECOND. Big thank you to our host Ertug for staying up this late and making sure there's absolutely no errors for us in our new location (even though they may very well be issues popping up at a later time). Fortunately for him he was able to head to bed as soon as this process was over. Unfortunately for me, I still have many hours left to fix up our 2x server, as well as continue to work on a few misc updates for our servers. I will likely pass out shortly and be asleep for a very long time, because this "shift" working on Garnet today has been over 24 hours long. RIP Hope you all enjoy the changes that have occurred/are upcoming! Garnutter

Communication is one of the most important things on a server like this. Whether it be between management or between factions. Communication is something that we can never have enough of and it seems like the past year has lacked a lot of it. After the community meeting a couple of days ago and the "surprise" meeting we had in the GB channel last night, it is clear that we need more communication. I am going to be setting up a schedule for factions meetings, country meetings, community meetings, and staff meetings. The end goal is to make it so where we still host these meetings, but they are as short as possible. To be able to keep up a consistently great community we need to always be communicating, otherwise, we will fall right back into the pit of toxicity. Below is info about each meeting and when they will be scheduled. This month will not follow the normal format of meetings as we are already almost halfway into the month. Faction Meetings This is something which i would not be setting up myself, more enforcing faction leaders to set up In the next country wide meeting, i will be speaking to faction leaders to try and set up weekly meetings within there own faction Topics of Discussion: Behavior, Involvement with faction activities, and anything which is faction specific Country Meetings These meetings will be for all factions of one side They will be country specific, meaning if you are not apart of that country, you can not attend unless given permission by management These meetings will happen monthly. One for US and one for RU. The US meeting will be the 1st Wednesday of every month and the RU meeting will be every 3rd Wednesday Topics of Discussion: SOC involvement with base factions, an outside POV on different factions, and any country-specific issues MRP Community Meetings These meetings will be for all of SOC and all of the base faction officers on the server Any player who does not fall under these conditions will not be able to attend these meetings They will happen every month on the 4th Saturday. Topics of Discussion: Map problems, Glitches, general server toxicity, and anything else Staff Meetings These meetings will be for all current staff members We will have two staff meetings per month One on the 2nd Saturday and one on the 4th Saturday after the community meeting Topics of Discussion: Rules, Division Details, Staff Involvement, and any other staff-related topic Month of May Schedule Green = Country Meeting Blue = Community Meeting Red = Staff Meeting Every meeting will start at 7 EST | 6 CST | 4 PST Like i said, this month is a bit different from other months as we are mid way through. RU is going to have there first meeting on Wednesday and then US one week after The only reason RU is getting there meeting first is because US already had a makeshift meeting last night in GB channel. Time to make some change!

At 3AM EST our entire network will be shutting down for an upgrade. This downtime may last anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour (4AM EST) however, i'm expecting to run into issues the following day that may interfere with our servers, so I will be around to trouble therm as they come! Changes Occurring Purchased 2 extra servers, for a total of 4 Website taken off of a 'VPS' and put onto its own dedicated machine - we will no longer share resources with anybody else, and as such, our website will run much faster. Rust's server content will be moved from an outdated 7700k-based machine, to a 9700k machine, allowing us to let 350 players play simultaneously over 3 servers (as opposed to 2 servers at 275) TTT and Murder have been moved to their own dedicated server machine (7700k) as to allow us to have more roleplay-based servers running on our main rig alongside DarkRP and MilitaryRP Thank you for your patience, hopefully all is smooth sailing!

Hello Garnet Gaming members, DarkRP #2 starting next week, we will have a 2nd DarkRP server added to our community with a playerbase of 60-100 regulars a day. I had opened the community prior in cooperative effort with a buddy of mine under the name "FuryNetworks" however, we discovered that I cannot open servers under my the sane plan which Garnet operates as even though I own FuryNetworks and its respective material, the service(s) I purchased for Garnet are strictly for the registered business/online service(s) belonging to "Garnet Gaming". FuryNetworks DarkRP is being renamed to GarnetGaming DarkRP #2, absolutely nothing will be transferring over as they are two completely different servers, this includes the staff team/player data/donation perks. If you are currently a DarkRP #1 staff, you are expected to fulfill your duties on said server, and there will be no switching/alternating between the two servers. I will update this thread with the server's IP once it is online and operating under the GarnetGaming brand name. Donation Portal Due to our severe lack in funding, I have received the help of my host in optimizing profits to put towards the future development of this server. Notably, the donation portal will function with the "credits" system that other servers utilize, as you might be familiar with. This means a minimum transaction would have to be $10. The reasoning for this is because when purchasing items for less than $10, I lose more than half of their value between PayPal taxes and end-of-the-year taxes. Credit packages are currently recurring every 30 days, you may choose to leave this on, however, I am in contact with a web-developer who will add the functionality of disabling the 'recurring' option in the checkout page!

The masters of the half implemented updates have made a return, this time affecting Garry's Mod. Our servers Token have expired twice in the last 12 days they've been forcefully implemented, this time affecting our servers for a handful of hours. Just going to hope they figure out a fix for this sooner rather than later. https://store.steampowered.com/newshub/app/4000/view/1716372156967158714 All our servers should be back online and ready to play on, thank you for your patience!

Hello Garnet Gamers, Unfortunately Enzo who was our designated Rust Manager failed his 2 week trial period, and the next person who was to grab his position was @Wasdin, however, Wasdin has just informed he will begin baseball season and cannot commit to his duties no longer (the same day he was promoted). As such, I will inevitably have to start searching for another Rust server manager. All applicants will begin with a 2-week trial period, in which they will be expected to accept applications, train new moderators, and coordinate the team to work more effectively among our 4 servers. If passed the 2-week trial period and there is a prominent change in the quality of our staff team, we may begin discussing pay from there, which of course, would inevitably go up as donations go up, so in a sense, you will be determining how much you can make. At this given time, Rust is operating at a loss, seeing as we do not generate an income, but this is also because our servers are swamped with minges/hackers and no coordinated staff to take care of them. If interested, please leave a response in this thread with your in-game name, age, and why you feel qualified for this position.

Hello GarfieldGamers, Please note: if anybody tries to empathize with me, IE: "Garnet take a break". "You don't deserve this" or anything pointless of this nature, I will simply delete their posts and lock this post. This post is purely up to explain to you why I'm unfortunately having to be less active than I would like for a period of time. TLDR: I'm needing to take pills to hopefully ease up on my pain and reverse some damage from a car accident, pills are extremely known for drowsiness and tiredness and as such, my activity may dip on Garnet for the next 30 days, but it's unavoidable. I don't know how badly I'll be affected by the pills, but this starts tonight. Long version: I'm sure some of you remember the car accident I was involved in back at the beginning of this year that put me out for a good week. Unfortunately for me, I've been going to see a physical therapist/chiropractor 2-3 days a week ever since then, however, I'm still in agonizing pain which is making working on Garnet alot more difficult than it should be with frequent muscle spasms in my shoulders/back - I try not to complain anymore, because to be frank, all I get is people overly sympathisizng with me and suggesting I take a break constantly, which I neither want to or can do without it affecting the community negatively. When it comes to insurance companies, to my best understanding, once you have gone to a chiropractor for a certain threshold and it's not helping, you are then sent you to an orthopedic surgeon to evaluate you again and determine what's to take place next. I went to visit one, he re-evaluated my spine, and unfortunately I didn't get the best news. As a last resort before operating my back which I can't afford or doing a few rounds of steroid injections, I was given muscle relaxers for the next 30 days which I basically have to be under the effects of 24/7 with minimal physical excretion - they make you extremely groggy and cloudy, and as such: no driving, and no going to work (albeit working from home on a PC could be ok if I can manage - it all depends on how badly the sideeffects get me, some people don't get them at all). I will see how I can manage to keep up my activity on Garnet. PS To all of you who have a burning hate for me, I will have you know that the guy who went a red light and hit me seemed to have literally bribed the insurance adjuster into ruling against me, and it doesn't seem that my Lawyer is trying to do too much about it. I had recorded evidence of the other driver coming out of his car and crying about how he's sorry he didn't see a red light, but that makes the accident my fault. Go fucking figure. Hopefully when this is all over I can go with this information to a news outlet.

You didn't even bother reading Aidan's latest post. Reserves are rarely used anymore for factions that are actually dying. Admin abuse is going over your reach/what you're allowed to do. If you payed any attention to MRP you'd know Aidan is allowed to do this, and if you payed any attention to this post you'd see that Garnet is supporting it. You probably just got tagged in the army discord saying that your reserves are getting removed so you came on to complain about it.
